No Turns Baby!

We moved to a new town, hoping life would get better for my son with autism, but his story became more unbelievable.  Soon after, I became a single parent raising two young boys, okay I wasn't expecting that, while navigating an education system that identifies him as number and me, oh yes, a nuisance.  

Here's an excerpt from The Making of Faith "No Turns"

"There were plenty of days when I just didn’t know what to do first.  I was afraid. So I put one foot in front of the other and began again.  Coming to the certainty of the end of my marriage wasn’t easy. 
 
Many errands filled one particular day.  As I drove, “No Turn” signs were everywhere. I had never noticed so many of them.  I suppose you don’t look for them unless you are contemplating turning.  There they were on the highways, cross streets, you name it.  There was no way to avoid them in my daily travels. Seven months after 26 years together, I was still trying to understand why, trying to ground myself.

So when my friend Sherry came for a visit in January, she noticed the signs too.  “Sure are a lot of 'No Turns' signs around here,” she said casually.  “Yep,” I replied, relieved it wasn't just me thinking the same.  As we headed over the Cooper Bridge into Red Bank, she prodded, “No turning back baby!”  We had a good laugh.  But on the inside I was unsettled. . . "
